Mango Mania!
We're now in the peak of mango season and they are being sold everywhere. So, we went to Monda market this past weekend for some local fruits/vegetables. There are over 150 varieties of mangos in India, which vary in color and taste. We bought a few different types, but so far have not been overly impressed. They do not taste sweet like the ones sold in the U.S. Those mangos generally come from Mexico and S. America. Every shop I go to I buy another, searching for that perfect mango.

Our purchase included 1 kilo of carrots for 12 rupees, one dozen limes for 16 rupees, 1 pomegranate for 12 rupees and 3 mangos for 15 rupees. Grand total 55 rupees which equals 1.37 USD, which was so insignificant and yet the majority of the population spends nearly 80% of their income on food. We then sat and pondered over that in a newly opened and very swanky bar/lounge. We each ordered a mojito and the total was nearly 1,000 rupees (25 USD).
