ahhh...civilization!

We spent a lovely weekend in Mumbai, which was just enough to recharge our batteries. It was a little over an hour flight, but really felt like we were in a different world, actually a return to the civilized world. Mumbai is a great city, despite being the 7th filthiest city in the world. However, we just couldn't say enough about the fraction of the city we saw. Mumbai felt like a proper city with a very cosmopolitan feel.
Here are some of the highlights that Hyderabad still lacks...
The picture above might not look like much, but it reveals 3 signs of a modern city.
1.Crosswalks
2.Stoplights
3.Best of all...sidewalks! We were so happy just to be able to walk around. Probably walked at least 10 miles.

We also saw a presence of law and order, which was almost shocking to see. We actually stopped and took pictures. The first picture is of people standing in line waiting for the bus. The second picture is of cars stopped at a traffic light.

We were in Mumbai during Holi, which is the festival of color. This fun spirited festival is seen below. People gather together and throw/smear a mixture of colored powders and water at others. The vibrant colors signify energy, which is the essence of life.
It's also the commencement of spring.

After Holi, people trying to wash the colors off in the Arabian Sea.

A glorious weekend in Mumbai!
